Mason spent his childhood reviewing stocks, bonds, and trusts with his grandfather, which ignited his calling for joining the financial services industry. He is glad to use his experience and skills to help others navigate their finances and find fulfillment in life.

Mason obtained his bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He lives in Columbia, Illinois where he previously owned a contracting business to help support his college education. In his free time, Mason enjoys working out, spending time with family, attending concerts, and catching St. Louis Battlehawks games.

Greg is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and prides himself in maintaining quality client relationships by custom-tailoring investment portfolios and financial plans to specific clients.

By blending and balancing various investment vehicles including funds, individual equities, and bonds, Greg tailors portfolios to the client’s individual circumstances. Greg’s investment philosophy focuses on building a portfolio of high-quality equities to provide growth and income over the long-term. Short-term portfolio needs are satisfied with more conservative, stable investment vehicles.

Greg joined Smith Moore in 2015 and strongly believes that the firm is the perfect size - large enough to provide the latest resources and technologies relating to portfolio management and financial planning, yet small enough to adjust to the specific needs of every client.

Greg graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee with a BS in Civil Engineering. In his free time, he enjoys golf and is an avid runner. He and his wife, Jo, live in St. Louis and are active in their local church community.

Amy Brody has over 20 years of financial management experience and is responsible for the overall financial management and related governance of the firm. She oversees the controllership, financial and regulatory reporting, human resources, and firm-level insurance risk functions. Amy is one of the seven Executive Committee members responsible for setting the strategic direction for Smith Moore and works closely with the Board of Directors on leading initiatives.

Prior to joining Smith Moore in 2015, she held senior leadership roles in corporate finance at MasterCard and Monsanto. She was also an external auditor early in her career. Amy is a Certified Public Accountant and obtained her BS degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from San Diego State University. She holds the Series 7, 24, 27, and 66 licenses.

Outside of work, Amy lives in Ballwin, Missouri, with her husband, David. They have five adult children and a spoiled house cat named Koda. Amy likes to stay busy watching movies, listening to music, and taking high-intensity interval and strength-training classes.

As a financial advisor with over two decades of experience helping clients, Jim Deutsch views himself as a holistic financial planner who creates plans to help clients achieve their life goals. He leverages his extensive financial services experience and a network of competent teammates, including attorneys, CPAs, and insurance professionals, to help his clients answer their financial concerns and questions. Jim is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a BS in Consumer and Family Economics. He earned a master’s degree in Finance from Webster University and is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at Wharton School of Business.

As President and CEO of Smith Moore, Jim leverages almost 30 years of industry experience with a significant record of results relating to organizational development, process improvement, audit performance, portfolio management, compliance, and client service. He is a bold, decisive leader with a proud reputation, strong work ethic, and a passion to improve performance at all levels of the organization.

Jim re-energized the organization and raised business standards by bolstering leadership, tightening financial controls, hiring new talent, and always striving to ensure regulatory compliance. His vision has driven broader utilization of improved technologies while consolidating two St. Louis offices into one central, prestigious location. Jim became a shareholder in 1999, was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2001, and was named President and CEO in 2003. Under his leadership, the firm has experienced revenue growth each year and has seen client assets increase from $400 million to over $3 billion. The firm has also expanded its footprint under Jim’s tenure, with eleven branch offices in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, and Mississippi. Jim also manages a book of business with over $200 million in client assets.

Jim was a 2008 recipient of the St. Louis Business Journal’s prestigious “Forty Under 40” award and received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2016. Jim concurrently serves on the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Private Client Group, the Advisory Board for the Personal Financial Planning Department at the University of Missouri – Columbia, and on the Board of Directors for the St. Louis Jewish Federation. Jim is also an adjunct faculty member at Washington University – Olin School of Business. Jim formerly served as the Chair of their Board for Covenant Place and was the Co-Chair of the 2016 St. Louis Delegation for Maccabi Games.

Jim lives in St. Louis with his wife, Lisa, their four children, Ryan, Max, Sam, and Molly, and their dog, Oscar. He enjoys spending his spare time in Keystone, Colorado, skiing, boating, and hiking. Jim is a “hair band” and 80’s rock enthusiast who plays electric guitar in his own band, Hyper Ambition.

She worked at the Heitner Corporation prior to Smith Moore, but her love of numbers started at an early age as her father was an accountant for International Shoe Company. Mary is responsible for the processes that surround account transfers, legal transfers, cost basis, and mutual fund direct business in her role as a Senior Operations Associate.

Mary lives in Dupo, Illinois, with her husband, Dennis, and their daughter, Ashley. In her free time, she enjoys being outside and working in her flower garden. Mary has discovered a newfound love for soccer and going to St. Louis City SC games.

Tim Gaines has enjoyed working in the financial services industry for over nine years. As Smith Moore’s Insurance and Annuity Processor, his focus is on insurance licensing, commissions, and other projects pertaining to compliance. He enjoys dealing with processes and metrics and follows industry changes to improve processes and standards.

Tim graduated with a BS in Sports Management from Ashford University and obtained his master’s degree in Organizational Development and Leadership from Saint Louis University. He has been a U.S. Army veteran for over nine years. Tim lives with his wife and two children, Tyson and Brielle. He enjoys playing sports, especially basketball, in his spare time.

As the Controller for Smith Moore, Michele specializes in establishing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure optimal controls. She oversees vendor payments, payroll processing, and expense reporting. She also prepares financial reports while ensuring compliance requirements are met. She has worked in a wide range of industries, including her family’s restaurant business and leading operational teams, but she has especially enjoyed working in the financial industry over the past 20 years. She enjoys partnering with other professionals at Smith Moore and helping keep the firm organized.

Michele obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from University of Missouri – St. Louis. She lives in Chesterfield with her husband, Kurt, their twins, Kate and Liz, and their household of pets ranging from cats, dogs, and rabbits to tropical fish. Michele enjoys going out to dinner with friends, shopping, practicing yoga, swimming, and playing the guitar.

With more than 50 years of experience in the financial services industry, Jeanine Heller takes pride in her ability to build relationships with her clients. The 20 years spent as a sell-side analyst for regional brokerage firms, and more than 30 additional years in furthering her professional skills in equity analysis, is her foundation for constructing equity portfolios while taking into consideration clients' investment objectives and time horizon.

Jeanine graduated with a BA in Mathematics from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, earned her MBA from St. Louis University, and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® accreditation. She has been deeply involved in the CFA Institute both nationally and internationally over the years. Jeanine has been an event chairperson, committee member, and board member for the CFA Society of St. Louis, and she formerly served as its President. Jeanine has also been active in her local community, formerly serving as Vice President and Board Member for Circle of Hope Bracelets, and a Finance Committee Member for Camp Ondessonk.

Dipali likes to go to St. Louis Cardinals games, St. Louis Blues games, watch Mizzou football and basketball, volunteer at her temple, and spend time with friends and family.

Michael previously coached high school football and wrote the bylaws to set up a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for the football team where he taught. Michael enjoys traveling, playing golf, and being with family in his free time.

In utilizing her certifications and many years of experience, Dorothea helps Smith Moore’s financial advisors service their clients to work toward their financial goals on their terms.

Dorothea graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a BS in Business Administration. She is also a member of the Philoptochos Ladies Society and Hellenic Spirit Foundation, and she serves on the St. Louis Metropolitan Committee for International Orthodox Christian Charities. She lives in the St. Louis area with her husband, Achilles, their daughter, Maria, and their spoiled Pomeranian, Foxy. She loves going to concerts and wineries with good friends and spending time with her family hiking, golfing, and going on float trips. For over 35 years, Roger’s mission has been to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Many of his clients work as real estate professionals and Roger is knowledgeable in addressing their specific needs and goals.

 To better serve his clients, Roger received the Chartered Life Underwriter®, Chartered Financial Consultant®, and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow® designations through the American College of Financial Services in Bryn Mawr, PA and attended Nettleton Business College in Omaha, NE.

 Roger lives in Creve Coeur, MO with his wife, Marion. They enjoy spending time with their six children, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. Roger is a former long-distance runner and is proud to have run the first of six marathons at the age of 55. Roger enjoys golfing, walking, and reading in his spare time.

With over four decades of industry experience, Barbara brings vast experience and knowledge to Smith Moore operations. Her keen understanding of tax reporting, cost basis, managed account administration, and margin requirement calculations, as well as her extensive regulatory exam experience, make Barbara an integral member of the firm. Barbara holds the Series 99 securities license.

Barbara currently lives in the city of St. Louis with her dog, Lily, and loves walking around the Missouri Botanical Gardens in her free time. She has two daughters, Angela and Katlyn, and two grandsons, Jacob and Zachary. She is one of six siblings and loves spending time with her family.

Dan Moran has over 20 years of experience in the industry and joined Smith Moore in April of 2008. He has extensive knowledge of network design, Citrix applications for desktop visualization, integrated Windows Operating systems, and multiple antivirus programs. Dan excels at managing the integration of hardware, software, and network structure. He also has a keen awareness of cybersecurity threats and implements necessary policies and procedures to protect the firm, its clients, and its employees.

Dan oversees the development and implementation of Smith Moore’s enterprise systems while continuously evaluating new technologies for the firm. He also administers the installation and maintenance of the firm’s software and hardware inventory. Dan utilizes his Series 7 and 63 licenses to work closely with the compliance department to better understand the industry compliance standards and ensure they are implemented.

Dan is an active member of FS-ISAC Broker Dealer Council, multiple SIFMA groups, and various advisory boards, in addition to serving as a member of Smith Moore’s Executive Committee.

Outside of the office, Dan enjoys bowling, golf, and softball. When they are not traveling to music festivals or camping in their upgraded trailer/camper, he lives with his wife, Chris, in Columbia, Illinois.

They are empty nesters except for their dog, Groot, who knows no strangers.

Juli Niemann has worked in the financial services industry for over 50 years. Her extensive experience has given her the perspective and skill to manage the risks in investing. Investors cannot control the range of the returns available, nor can they set the markets. Through careful analysis and proper balancing, however, they can mitigate the risks in their individual portfolios. It is Juli’s task to understand her clients' unique needs and concerns, to monitor changing circumstances, and to build and maintain a portfolio that satisfies her clients' objectives.

Juli is a Chartered Financial Analyst® professional who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fontbonne College and obtained her MBA in Finance from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She is a current member and former president of the CFA Institute in St. Louis.

Juli remains active in the community as a member of many organizations. She serves on Fontbonne University’s Trustee and Investment Committee, the Archdiocese of St. Louis’s Finance Committee, the St. Louis Financial Analysts Society, and the Rotary Club 11 of St. Louis. She is also involved in Parents as Teachers, Marian Middle School, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, and the Mary Ryder Home.

Juli and her husband enjoy going to concerts, traveling, catching baseball and basketball games, and taking in the theater. When they are not out in the community, they enjoy spending time with their 80-pound “lap dog.” Juli also frequently gives interviews for radio, television, and newspaper to talk about current economic events and markets.

Art O’Dell has been working in the financial services industry for more than 30 years and joined Smith Moore in 1989. With a focus on high quality bonds, Art’s goal is to try to lower the volatility of the market by building a bond ladder that matches market conditions. When rates are low, Art tries to shorten the ladder. When rates are high, he tries to lengthen the ladder to enhance return on investment. Since Art joined Smith Moore, he has relied on the core principles that launched the firm on its path to prosperity.

Art graduated from St. Louis University with a BA in Finance and is a Board Member of the Sue Spirit Train Foundation. He and his wife, Lisa, have three grown children and reside in the St. Louis area.

Jaret Perryman is the Chief Compliance Officer of Smith Moore. He joined the firm in 2019 and assumed the role of CCO in 2022. Jaret has been in the industry for 25 years and has cultivated an interest in the capital markets since his teenage years. He previously served in senior level compliance, finance, and operations positions with Larson Financial Group and Millenia Investments before joining Smith Moore.

As the Chief Compliance Officer, he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s compliance department and ensuring that the firm is compliant with all securities laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Jaret holds the Series 4, 7, 24, 28, 53, 63, and 66 FINRA licenses.

Jaret is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a BA in Political Science. He lives in Clayton, Missouri, with his wife, three sons, and their pet dog that helps run the household. Outside of work, Jaret enjoys basketball, cycling, live music, anything outdoors, and being with family and friends.

Bob Plack joined Smith Moore in 1987 and is registered as an investment broker and an investment advisor representative. He manages securities portfolios and provides a full range of products, services, investment plans, and retirement plans. He specializes in managing traditional stock and bond positions with an emphasis on income and potential dividend growth.

Bob’s father was a financial analyst, so he grew up reading financial statements. He was fortunate to study under two Nobel Prize winners who inspired a lifelong quest for a deeper understanding of business analysis and portfolio management. He follows a disciplined process to help clients build wealth and steadily generate income from their portfolios.

He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1986 and holds a BSBA in Finance and Accounting. He holds the FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, 63, and 65 professional licenses in addition to holding a Missouri Insurance License.

Beth lives in Collinsville, Illinois, and is a proud grandmother of three. She enjoys cooking and creating stained glass designs in her spare time.

Ian is also a Certified Public Accountant with a deep understanding of tax advisory knowledge and specializes in holistic wealth management services.

Ian graduated from Truman State University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He is the Alumni Board President for the Xi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity and also serves as an advisory board member for the national group. He regularly volunteers at the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry.

Ian is a St. Louis native and lives near Forest Park with his girlfriend, Hannah, and their goldendoodle, Olive. In his free time, he enjoys cooking new recipes, golfing, finding a sunny place to read, swimming, and playing squash.

Since the inception of Smith Moore in 1913, the company has maintained its focus on excellent client service. Tim has worked in the financial services industry since 1991, and Smith Moore’s exceptional client service has been constant during his time here.

Tim earned a BS in Business Administration from Quincy University and holds the Series 4, 7, 24, 65, and 66 licenses. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute sponsored by the Wharton School of Business.

Tim and his wife, Kathy, live in St. Peters, Missouri, with their children, Bridget and Patrick. He enjoys playing golf and pickleball, and he loves attending his kids’ sporting events. He also remains active in the community, serving as the Chair of the St. Patrick’s Day Foundation of Cottleville, the Parade and Green Tie Gala Chair, the St. Peters’ Board of personnel, and is a member of the SIFMA Roundtable.

In a constantly changing industry, he is happy to collaborate with a range of departments and individuals across the firm.

Kyle obtained bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and History from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He entered the financial services industry in 2011, has over a decade of experience in compliance, and holds the Series 7, 66, 9/10, 24, and Insurance licenses.

Kyle is an enthusiastic individual who has always embraced a vibrant and active lifestyle. He grew up along the rural edge of Greater St. Louis, and his love for adventure and exploration has led him to backpack through numerous national parks. Kyle enjoys attending concerts and collecting vinyl records. His lifelong love for the St. Louis Cardinals can be seen in his husky, Ozzie, named after the Cardinals’ Hall of Fame shortstop.

As the Assistant Director of IT, Joshua supports Smith Moore’s computer systems, business applications, security tools, networking, phone systems, and more. He is constantly researching emerging technologies to keep the company secure and guide the firm toward solutions which streamline workflows and provide long-term security and efficiency. Joshua has worked in IT and computer sales for over 20 years and has always been fascinated with computers. He enjoys helping others find more efficient ways to utilize technologies so they can better assist their clients with secure financial decisions.

Joshua has attended both Ranken Technical College and Webster University. He and his wife, Beth, live in Lebanon, Illinois, with their two children, Bruce and Posey. They enjoy staying active by going on family hikes, swimming, and riding bikes. In between rounds of golf, Joshua is an avid painter of miniatures for the tabletop board game Warhammer 40,000.

Ally joined Smith Moore in October 2023 after a five-year career serving as an Operations Associate. Having previously served institutions like Edward Jones and Wells Fargo, Ally is proud to join Smith Moore and to help problem solve with advisors and faculty while meeting clients’ wealth management needs. With a keen interest for learning and self-improvement, Ally is always hungry for more knowledge so she can better serve her clients.

Ally received her Bachelor of Science in International Business from Western Kentucky University. She lives in Glen Carbon with her boyfriend and their spoiled cat, Breeze. In her free time, Allyson enjoys traveling to new destinations, baking, and playing video games. She also has an avid interest in Japanese culture and language.

Kevin graduated from University of Missouri – Columbia with a BS in Personal Financial Planning. He lives in the St. Louis area with his wife, their four children, and their dog. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys fishing, cheering on his native Nebraska Huskers alongside the Mizzou Tigers, St. Louis Blues, and St. Louis Cardinals.

With over 46 years in the industry, Frank Weber specializes in selecting blue chip stock with a focus on total returns for his clients as they build for retirement. He developed his love for investing at an early age, having bought his first stock at 10 years old after saving up his money from various jobs. At Smith Moore, he is proud to be part of one of the oldest investment firms west of the Mississippi River and help clients plan their financial futures.

Frank received his BS in Business from Eastern Illinois University. He is actively involved at the Basilica of St. Louis as a finance committee member, lector, eucharistic minister, and docent. He is also a life member of the international fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi.

Frank lives in St. Louis, where he enjoys working in his yard, reading history books, and watching over the rescue dogs he has owned over the years.

Dean Williams, Jr. is a Financial Advisor at Smith Moore in Clayton, Missouri. Dean joined the financial services industry more than 40 years ago, spending his first six years in public accounting and corporate taxation before becoming a financial advisor.

He helps his clients identify financial problems and offer common sense solutions. His mission is to simplify his clients’ complex financial lives by listening carefully to their objectives and implementing a simple, workable plan. His process comes from experience and not from a “one size fits all” approach.

Dean graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Accounting, and he holds Series 7, 63, and 65 Securities Licenses.

Outside of the office, Dean enjoys playing competitive tennis and has remained active in the community for many years as the captain of one or more USTA tennis teams. He and his wife, Lisa, reside in the St. Louis area and spend considerable time in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida throughout the year.

Donna L. Zoeller joined Smith Moore as Vice President and Financial Advisor in 2017 with over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. She has previously served in high-level positions that include President of BNY Trust Company of Missouri and as a Vice President and Public Finance Group Manager for US Bancorp. She holds a BA in Political Science and Business Administration from Winthrop University. In 2012, she completed her studies for the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™ designation from the College for Financial Planning.

Donna focuses on innovative and tailored client strategies while developing client relationships that have spanned decades. Having spent her entire career working with families and individuals who own businesses, she advises clients both on their long-term business and personal financial needs.

For business clients, she works with owners from start-up to maturity with a specialty in benefit plans, cash management, short- and long-term financing, transfer strategies, and business succession planning. Her customized strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families include preparing for retirement, trust and estate planning, wealth management and preservation, and educational needs. She often partners with a team of professionals and specialists to assist in addressing unique needs.

Donna’s extensive record of community service includes being a Board Member of the St. Louis Children’s Choir. In her free time, Donna enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading, traveling, and taking care of her pups, Odi and Lucy.
