Dan Moran

Dan Moran brings over 30 years of industry experience and has been a valuable member of Smith Moore & Co. since April 2008. With deep expertise in network design, Citrix-based desktop virtualization, integrated Windows environments, and antivirus solutions, Dan is a key driver behind the firm’s technology strategy. His ability to seamlessly manage the integration of hardware, software, and network infrastructure is complemented by his strong focus on cybersecurity, where he establishes and enforces protocols that safeguard the firm, its clients, and its employees.

As head of enterprise systems, Dan oversees the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of Smith Moore’s technology platforms. He also manages the deployment and maintenance of software and hardware resources. Holding Series 7 and 63 licenses, Dan works closely with the compliance department to ensure adherence to industry regulations and best practices.

Dan is actively involved in several industry groups, including the FS-ISAC Broker Dealer Council, various SIFMA working groups, and multiple advisory boards. He also serves on Smith Moore’s Executive Committee, contributing to the firm’s broader strategic initiatives.

Outside of work, Dan leads a full and active life. He recently became Vice President of the Twenty First Century Lions Club of Columbia, Illinois, and serves on the Board of the NOFA Jeep Army, an organization that raises awareness for all types of cancer. Dan and his wife, Chris, enjoy traveling to music festivals, camping in their upgraded trailer, and spending time in Columbia with their friendly dog, Groot—who never meets a stranger. As empty nesters, they embrace their adventures together with energy and heart.
